América Móvil S.A.B. de C.V.
Is a company leader in telecommunication services in 26 countries in America and Europe. In Latin America, América Móvil operates in the sectors of landline and mobile telephony, broadband internet services, besides offering services for TV on demand. América Móvil owns the companies Telmex, Telcel and Claro Video, which have national coverage and coverage in other American countries.
This company belongs to one of the richest man in the world, Carlos Slim Helú. With Lebanese origin, Slim studied civil engineering at the UNAM and started with investments and management of big companies since he was very young. In 1965, when he was 25, he founded the real estate company Carso; in the 1980s, Grupo Carso (reals estate industry) starts investing and purchasing companies such as Bimex and Reynolds Aluminio.
In 1967 he also founded Promotora del Hogar S.A. for household marketing, and slowly his wealth increases. He purchases and runs Mina el Volcán SSG Inmobiliaria S.A. and in 1969 he creates three new companies: Bienes Raíces Mexicanos S.A., Nacional de Arrendamientos and Investor Mentor Mexicana. In 1984 he buys Bimex, S.A. and 40% of British American Tobacco, among else. He also buys Seguros de México, today called Seguros Inbursa, and in addition he founded grupo Financiero Inbursa. In 1985, into his group also join: Sanborns, Dennys, Paper factory Loreto y Peña Pobre, Pamosa, 50% of Hersheys and Artes Gráficas Unidas.
The news portal UNO TV, initiates as additional service offered by the company Telcel for the users of its mobile telephony. UnoTV.com is a news service which sends news via SMS to users of the company Telcel. UnoTV.com is ownership of Publicidad y Contenido Editorial S.A. de C.V., which at the same time is owned by América Móvil S.A.B. de C.V.
In 2011, UnoTV.com broadcasted in live the XVI Pan American Games. For the Grupo Salinas, which represents the competition in free television, this meant a violation of its broadcasting franchise, so TV Azteca asked the government to conduct an investigation for this matter. At the end, UnoTV.com was waived.
