Federico Arreola

Federico Arreola is a journalist, politician and Mexican businessman, founder of important media in Mexico such as Reforma and Milenio, and founder and current General Director of the Mexican website SDPNoticias.com.

The career trajectory of Federico Arreola is one of a kind among the media businessmen in the country. He has been general director of at least 10 national newspapers, as well as columnist in dozens of other media. At certain time he quit investing and publishing opinion pieces, so he could participate as a campaign advisor for presidential candidates who almost won the mandate such as the center-wing politician Luis Donaldo Colosio and the left-wing Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Although the presidential campaigns he participated in were not fruitful, his public presence has not decreased. The Forbes Magazine has named him as one of the most influential journalists in Mexico, thanks to his wide presence on Twitter, where he has more than 200,000 followers.

His last move was to enter in partnership with the blogger Víctor Hernández, creator of the activist website El Sendero del Peje, and turn it into SDPNoticias.com so that later he would sell the half of this successful company to the media giant Grupo Televisa SAB.

According to the opinion of the journalist Javier Lafuente published in the daily El País, this move is maybe one of the most important in the digital media sector in Mexico: now Televisa owns half of an online portal –with the option to acquire the rest of it too- which has revolutionized the media environment through its presence on social networks, especially on Facebook.
