El Norte
The daily newspaper El Norte was founded in the city of Monterrey, in the north of the country. It offers not only regional information but also reports on topical issues from national and international milieu, with political and social analysis. Adding to this, the newspaper in its daily printed edition includes other 5 sections: Society - focused on culture and values of the citizens of Monterrey; Sports; Business - where it covers economic, business and trading topics; People - focused on shows and entertainment and finally Companies - described as the commercial section dedicated to the growth of the companies, their goods and services.
In 1999, The Wall Street Journal qualified El Norte as the most independent and objective newspaper in Mexico.

The newspaper El Norte belongs to the Consorcio Interamericano de Comunicación S.A. de C.V. (CICSA) which on the other hand is part of Grupo Reforma. The latter owns other newspapers too, such as Reforma printed in Mexico City, Mural in the city of Guadalajara and Metro also in Mexico City. Grupo Reforma has always belonged to the Junco de la Vega family.

Rodolfo Junco de la Vega Voigt - Founder of the newspapers El Norte and El Sol, both in the city of Monterrey. After one economic crisis and while being in charge of the editorial for El Sol, he turned for help to Grupo Monterrey (headed by Luis Garza Sada, magnate and owner of the Cuauhtémoc Brewery) and this is how in 1938 they founded El Norte as partners.
